Today is my mum’s birthday. I’m away from her. No matter how far away I am from her, I still carry her mitochondria. Mitochondria are a paramount component of every living creature. They are in the DNA, producing energy in order to start life and so on. Their fundamental role is to ensure the survival of the cell. As human beings, we receive our mitochondria from our mothers, not from our fathers. This means that we begin life thanks to our mothers.
So, no matter how far away I am from my mum, I still carry her mitochondria. I feel all my energy thanks to her. She is still with me wherever I go. I carry her with me. Her energy is my energy.
